Anthemic rock from Vib Gyor

With the name Vib Gyor giving the impression that the band are of Scandinavian extract, its a surprise to learn that the band hail from Leeds and that their debut single 'Fallen' is a sterling slab of Indie-rock that reaches out to be anthemic.

The slow build to the chorus where the vocals slip into falsetto sweetly and changes pace in a style that has been performed throughout the years but is executed well here and the track should appeal to many.

The guitar rings constantly in the background, never at any time over-powering the track (until the fade-out) but always remaining a presence and it edges the tempo along rather well.

The b-sides unite in giving the impression that Vib Gyor belong in the ranks of those who see Radiohead as great influences but try to maintain the element of songwriting as the forefront of their objectives and not sonic experimentation.

Vib Gyor having more soul and integrity that Kubb, less histrionics than Muse and a better single than many of the acts who are peddling their wares at the moment, with a bit of luck and hard work, Vib Gyor may be wowing people with their anthems for some time to come.
