Stadium Rock with a Conscience.

This slice of very American sounding anthemic depressive stadium rock from Blue October starts off strangely, sounding a bit like Peter Gabriel. Its lyrics are very down-beat but treacle coated by the catchy, anthemic tune that comes in at the chorus, which, partly because of the husky vocals and partly because of the epic guitars sounds a bit like Disturbed.

It's quite interesting, mainly because of the lyrics, which seem a bit more sincere than a lot of standard heavy rock and also because the slower verse sections of the song have an alt-rock/indie feel. It ends strangely for a single though, just fading out at the end when it should be more decisive. Blue October scored a huge hit with this track in the American charts, but it's hard to say how the band will fare in the British market because they have that really American stadium rock sound -think Creed- but they do write a catchy tune and play with conviction, so you never know.
