Space Cowboys? You Bet!
The darlings of British rock music, Muse, struck gold when they recorded their six-minute epic, 'Knights of Cydonia'. Whilst the rest of the musical world struggles to maintain their audiences attention for around the three-minute mark, Muse effortlessly glide in and create the kind of epic that was thought to have died a long, long time ago.
Matt Bellamy's smooth vocals, as hypnotic as ever, glide smoothly over toned down guitars and drumming. The result is a dynamic piece of music that hints at adventure, excitement and above all, Muse. Accompanied by a music video that has to be seen to be believed, the single is as daring and as ambitious as you would expect from a band who are fearless.
Somewhere between the angst-ridden Showbiz and their true breakthrough album Absolution, this band exploded into the forerunners of rock music that they are today. Black Holes and Revelations if an album that feeds their fans, litters television adverts and 'Knights of Cydonia' is the jewel in the albums crown. Confident, assured and stylish as hell, the song sweeps in and grabs you by the throat. It will be a long time before this band and this song in particular let go of the alternative music world's throat.
