Maximo Park - Our Velocity
The long awaited return of last years hit Geordie success Maximo Park is worth the wait.
They are gracing our stereos once again with the same signature poppy variation that they left us with as Paul Smith continues to jiggle and jump in and out of each Maximo note. "I'm not a man, I'm a machine" are the first words he leaves us with as this once again ever-so-catchy highly charged pop tune bursts into a whirlwind of keyboard sounds and beloved guitar riffs amongst that well pronounced voice that took them on such a whimsical journey last year.
Paul Smith's love for literature is certainly present in their songs. He would be a bit too good at a game of "Articulate" and this song is entwined with catchy one liners and real thought through testing lyric. "I buy books, I never read," rings above the continual finger dancing of a distinctly 80's keyboard jam.
"Our Velocity" is very...Maximo Park really. It seems that the boys have picked up where they left off, with more catchy pop songs and even catchier lyrical dexterity that will dance its way through 2007.
