Pass me another Scrumpy

Brief history lesson in case you've no idea who the Wurzels are. They're a comedy/novelty act from Somerset who were at their peak in the Seventies. Previous hits have included the original version of this one 'Cider Drinker', 'Farmer Bill's Cowman', 'Drink Up Thy Zider', 'The Champion Dung Spreader', 'I Got My Beady Little Eye On Thee', 'Funky Farmyard' and of course, their number 1 smash 'Combine Harvester'.

Despite being a slab of West Country Cheddar of the highest order, The single does have a serious side, last year Wurzels co-frontman and accordionist Tommy Banner was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer after going for a random test. After an operation and radiotherapy, he is now back to full fitness, and is keen to highlight the importance of testing. All royalties from the single are going to the BUI Prostate Cancer Care Appeal.

So why get Mr. Cheese himself Tony Blackburn on board. The former Radio 1 DJ and one time king of the 'I'm A Celeb' jungle introduced the band on 'Top of the Pop's to perform this track thirty one years ago. This track has been given the dance treatment with a higher tempo beat meaning that no wedding discos will be safe from Wurzel fun for years to come.

It goes without saying this song is naf, but how disappointing would it be if it wasn't. All in a good cause and in the spirit of the song, with enough cider in you who could fail to have a good time in the company of the Wurzels?
