Paint It Black

Sometimes you have to wonder whether some bands seriously want their records to be reviewed. David R Black's latest single arrived on my door without even a cursory press release. Thankfully this reviewer is a "bit" more professional and actually made the effort to Google the band when he could have easily filed it under "B" for bin.

Alternatively I could have invented a ridiculously convoluted back story to bolster the word count of this review but you'll never catch me doing that... well, only in those rare instances when a single is so tedious there's little more to say than "must try harder" . "Silence and Sound" is generic, passable MTV2 friendly alt-rock, Black's voice is slightly above average but the tune itself offers little melodic sustenance. This Manchester based band won't inspire rabid devotion or swathes of positive press, they will however continue to clock up a number of prestigious support slots for the likes of The Mission and New Model Army.
