Unexciting Indie

Formed in May 2006 this Cornish outfit have now decamped to Berlin where they are receiving regular airplay on Radio Corax and are set to play a number of European festivals. They claim to be inspired by the DIY ethos of American underground bands in the 80's, with the aim of booking their own gigs, releasing their own records and touring hard to get their music heard. Perhaps this is possible in a city like Berlin, however I feel they simply wouldn't stand out and make the same impact in the UK.

The problem with the Myriad Creatures is that they appear to be somewhat non descript. Although they say they are inspired in terms of attitude by such bands as Fugazi and Black Flag; and obviously not musically, I just cannot help wishing they were. Instead they produce middle of the road inoffensive music that wouldn't make a mark if you crashed into it at high speed.

Overall it's a tight and well-produced EP, with indie pop rock ballads and a few catchy choruses that may sound fresh outside the UK. Maybe it's worth a listen if you haven't anything better to do, otherwise I'd steer well clear of this one.
