Rather pleasant with a tale to tell.

Perhaps the Klaxons did go on an 18-30 holiday and met Mother Theresa but sometimes you get the impression that bands write about stuff that requires a stretch of the imagination. Either that or it requires a complete blanking of reality or the significance of lyrics. This is in stark contrast to previous generation where stories and ideals were kept alive by words of song and passed down through generations.

Kris Drever may or may not be a man who has toiled on the land but his track 'Harvest Gypsies' tells of the workers who were shipped in to work on the land for rich folk and help farmers reap their harvest. It may not be what the top 40 is all about these days but with the music being quite enjoyable, the song can be enjoyed on a few levels. The vocals are earnest and tell a serious story but the music is jaunty and rolls along at a fair pace with the accordion sounding extremely lively.

The folk revival is certainly in full swing at the moment and this track, coupled with Drevers other solo and collaboration work indicates there is a lot more to come from this type of music, and indeed, this artist.

Its not everyone's cup of tea but its rather pleasant and touching so give it a whirl, what have you got to lose.
