The Who That's Who
If I was a cynic I would think that Father's Day must be around the corner and they want to shift some units to those aging old rockers, growing old disgracefully! Well mine can fuck off and buy his own copy, and if he nicks this one again there will be an old fashioned punch up. Must be something to do with my dad being the same age of Roger and Pete, well that's what you can call them when you have been around as long as they collectively have been.
When I see remastered CDs ahead of a tour I always think they are about to get some money ahead of them putting on the old slippers and buggering off into retirement. Well unlike that other bunch of aging rockers who are reknowned for having a tight arsed bugger in the band, you know the ones, that band that look like they have taken part in all the excesses of rock n roll (lucky buggers) but now need zimmers to keep them on their feet. Well The Who have aged slightly, and what really gets my goat is that Roger Daltry could pass for my brother! So what has got on my tits? This CD, that's what! They can call it remastered, they can call it what they want, but blokes me dad's age should stop putting out music that is as original today as when it first appeared. All I can say is this album is the dog's! Don't you know you can have your bus passes now and carpet slippers, but know you wanna rock n roll and grow old having fun ........please can I join in with the fun??
To you younger kids (with The Who that could be described as anyone under 60), you might recoginse some of the music if you are fans of the CSI franchise, yes CSI, CSI Miami and CSI New York all use Who tracks, all I can say is rock on to Jerry Bruckheimer!
So about the album, well it is stuffed full of favourites, and I hesitate to use the prefix 'old', as I might get a guitar wrapped round my head. But they are all there 'My Generation', 'Pinball Wizard', 'Who Are You' and 'You Better, You Bet' just to name a few. The album is pure class of hit after hit, not one of those albums that has a couple of hits on it and a lot of filler. Each track on the album can stand alone and fight its own corner.
Would I recommend this album? Oh yes, and tell your dad he will have to get his own copy, unless he is a pinball wizard, but I won't get fooled again by that trick as I can see for miles where my old fella is concerned! So to the kids of my generation, you better you bet get this album in your music collection; there is no subsititute for a happy jack, otherwise people will want to know who are you!!! So from this real good looking boy, behind blue eyes, get out there and get this album. And to those of you that have been counting yes there are a few Who songs been used in this paragraph, but how many?? Answers on an ecard to.......... ;)
