Sonic Hearts- Hold on

It opens like a Thrills track, turning slowly into yet another indie track, which fails miserably to grab me at any point. And that's Sonic Hearts. The Liverpool quintet release their debut single "Hold On" on the 16th July, hoping to capture the young, ever growing audience of indie pop, touring the country with prime example Air Traffic, also playing numerous festivals, including the well supported Latitude.

With no disrespect meant, EMI Records have a reputation that appears to have been well supported in this respect. Did these guys really want to release this single first? Did they really want an Evertonian coloured CD? And did they only consist of five members prior to the record label getting their hands on them- in fact, are any of the members even originals?! Don't get me wrong, the track is pretty, it's chilled out and listenable, but doesn't pull me in and wrap me up, leading me to draw such conclusions. The label have grabbed onto what the crowd want to hear, but unfortunately, it all feels ever so commercial.

At times, Good Shoes comparisons can be made, but at others, and most in fact- the guys sounds more like a solo artist such as James Morrison or Paulo Nutini. Releasing a summer tune, hoping to get mega air play and instant success. The debut album is yet to be finished, but I fear that once their time is called, will anybody really remember them after this wishy washy debut?
