Honeyroot - Nobody Loves You (They Way I Do) / Heavy Drops

I had to take a step back from this one. I listened to the double A-Side a couple of times, yet found myself drifting off into the atmosphere. And the problem was- I had things to do. Honeyroot have found a soft spot in my system, one which allows the two track CD, taken from debut album "The Sun Will Come", out on the 16th July, to take over, possess me in a way only this genre can.

Resemblances to Zero 7, Morcheeba and the brilliant Lamb can be made almost immediately, as the chilling female vocalist haunts the soft, delicious, almost edible backing sound. The thin line between elevator music and the 'Schizophonica' genre is thinning as we speak. But don't fall into the trap of typical heartless, un-emotive dance tunes. This is more like an evening bath and a cocoa rub. One after the other. Throw in strawberries and cream if you fancy it- trust me, it tastes THAT good. The double A-side I have been waiting for.

'Heavy Drops' is less elating, probably due to its lack of vocalist, which we all know has made Lamb and Kosheen the bands that they are today. Massive Attack-esque, potentially a bigger dance hit than the song prior to. The album release date is one I look forward to immensely.
