Braig Johnston and the Revolvers- Wherever I fall.

After playing sell out gigs throughout the country and collaborating with high profile producers, it is no surprise that Craig Johnston and the Revolvers are topping indie download charts and beginning to receive stonking reviews.

Released on the 6th August, debut single "Wherever I fall" is classic indie tune, reminiscent to some, of early Coldplay, with many influences playing a part in the making and structure of the band. A self confessed young Stone Roses fan developed himself into a David Gray influenced and Zero 7 relaxant, sympathetically obvious in this single.

Released on their own record label, Johnston and the revolvers have provided us with a catchy-ish debut, in anticipation for the forthcoming album, out soon. The four piece admit to the help of "Larry the Laptop" in 'wherever I fall'- giving the single a more electronic folksy feel. A rare concoction undoubtedly.

The band are well known for their moody, critically depressing music- and they appreciate the challenge ahead of them. "It's tough but if you're good enough things will happen for you".

They aspire to create gems that "explore the intimacy of personal experience" but I failed miserably at finding the intimacy within this understanding- either the experience was too personal, or the lyrics simply could not grab at the audience and bring them within the moment. Wherever I fall is a bit too similar to material from 1999, when mellow indie bands were all the rage and the revolvers would have fitted right in.

I don't doubt their popularity in the next coming months, with debut album on its way and highly acclaimed producers putting their name alongside the four some, yet for me personally- the experience failed to become intimate.
