German Chart Toppers Offer Standard Teen Pop Rock

Tokio Hotel are one band that wouldn't need a word of introduction in German speaking parts of Europe, the four fresh faced youngsters made a massive name for themselves charming fans with their androgynous looks and catchy pop rock. Now they're releasing their first English single, 'Ready, Set, Go!', which already stormed the German charts under the name, 'Übers Ende der Welt'. Whether the band catch on in the UK is probably a matter of whether we need more crashing pop rock with grungy guitars, echoing verses and smashing choruses. It's certainly worth questioning whether the band's success in their home country was more down to connecting with teens through their native language, something which only a small smattering of non-English bands commit to.

In any case, 'Ready, Set, Go!' is forceful and sharp, if not unique or inventive in its frantic blazing teen rock approach. Should they suceed in capturing the imagination of youngsters over here, fear not Tokio Hotel trainers, notepads and so on are already prepared to rain down upon the high street. If you like slick, well-oiled aggressive tunes that others may class as formulaic, then give Tokio Hotel a whirl.
