Bright young talent

Debut singles usually either fail dismally to lead up to the inevitable hype, or shock you from somewhere underneath the indie press' radar. Dylan Donkin does neither, leaving the listener a little perplexed but curious for more. 'Make A Choice' is a sunny little tune with twinkling notes and sunny guitar; it's certainly in the same giddily upbeat tone as The Guillemots, but the vocals are so serene that it's easy to slip into a transient trance and left the tune drift over you. Thankfully b-side, 'Depression Yesterdays' teaches us that Donkin's debut mini-album will show us a more instantly accessible side of the singer as an acoustic guitar strums away on this high-paced alt-rock number with crisp percussion that's gone in the blink of an eye due to its 2 minute duration!
