Latest single from Liverpool band.
'Jacqueline' is the second single to be taken from The Coral's fourth album and is a more subtle and reflective effort than I would have anticipated. It combines the trademark retro sound and accented vocals with a more mature style.
The song is a pleasant listen and has a beat catchy enough to remember. It's doubtful that 'Jacqueline' will become a rabble-rouser live but as a slow burner it will serve a mid-set acoustic slot nicely. As a single this is unlikely to convert anyone new to the band but it's nice enough to distract from the fact that it isn't all that remarkable. Backed with a needless instrumental version, The Coral's latest is probably best served to existing fans only.
