Drugdealer Cheerleader – Enjoy The Time You Waste

London based four piece Drugdealer Cheerleader incorporate punk rock with sleazy garage rock and roll. Unfortunately they are one of those bands who will probably gain quick success with their debut album and then vanish from the world. Much like The Darkness, Towers Of London and any other Rock n Roll cliché trying to break into a scene that simply cannot stomach their irritating image obsessed novelty crap for more than 12 months.
Actually I doubt Drugdealer Cheerleader will get any further than they already have with regards to fame and fortune with this un original and backward thinking effort.

Enjoy The Time You Waste would have slotted nicely in between the likes of King Adora, The Darkness and anyone else with hair metal pop riffs from the eighties with a bit of glam. Unfortunately even the record buying public that have an open mind toward music may turn their noses up at Drugdealer Cheerleader and that's simply because there's not a single original, inspiring or quality song on the entire album. It's all been done several years before and then re hashed a few years later and the re hashed stuff has then even been re hashed to the point that there is nothing worth listening to. It may be catchy on the surface but it definitely doesn't leave you humming anything afterwards, nor does it make you want to pogo around your room.

This brings me back to my original point that the only people who will listen to this band are the novelty fans who enjoy living the Rock n Roll cliché and this is exactly why they need dancing cheerleaders to entertain the fans. Those with the aid of a bottle of Jack Daniels in each hand, some skin-tight trousers and egos as big as their hairstyles will be fully entertained, but are they really listening to what's being laid out in front of them or are they just waiting for those dancing cheerleaders.

In all, image can go a long way with regards to music if you've got the songs to back this up. But without the songs all you've got are a bunch of greasy rock and roll wannabe's who have forgotten first and foremost that they're in a band to write music and not just emulate what they love listening to, or maybe they are, but for me this just isn't good enough.
