This two song release is a raucous expression of youthful exuberance mixed with hilariously danceable and funky beats recalling when hip-hop was fun. Add to this a post-rock vibe so un-self-conscious even hipsters will want to jump around likehyperactive children when it plays, and you have a very very good band.
'My Dunks' is an angry teenager's analysis of contemporary fashion and the bonfire of the vanities that fashionable and 'modern' boys are subscribing to, including all the selfishness implicit in the world of the well-dressed. The punk vocals of Stefan Abingdon mix perfectly with the saucy-pop sing-song of Maya Yianni, creating a home-made melange that somehow recalls old-school Beastie Boys and the dance-rock of !!!.
'I Can't Take You Anywhere' feels like dance-punk with an underground hip-hop edge. The drum-machine makes you want to dance like you're in A-levels still, and the synth makes the song hilariously catchy. The lyrics reflect the feeling of exasperation in a relationship where one partner continuously gets ridiculously drunk and embarrasses the other partner at social functions. Finally, someone writing about the aspects of our lives that never make it into the pop charts.
