When Lily Allen came out, everyone lauded her talents of brutal honesty among her songwriting. But how many times, walking along the high street have you ever seen dealers arguing with crack whores? “Bold Street” bears many similarities to Ms Allen's LDN, but is far more tuneful, truthful and confident and is a wise choice for those who are just on the wrong side of “street”.
“Bold Street” is a beautifully written and realised single that takes us on a voyeuristic journey down any high street in the country, adding flourishes and exaggerations as anyone who has ever told a tall tale would. Because although this is a true reflection of modern life it knows that the observer will exaggerate things in their mind, filling in gaps where they see fit. It's a touching and majestic stroke that fits the offbeat but catchy musical accompaniment to a tee. Highly recommended.
