Hitting the wall of sound.

When its done well, one of the best forms of pop music is the highly layered harmony led songs that bands like The Beach Boys and producers like Phil Spector used to favour. Many bands have tried and failed in an attempt to recreate this classic sound but every so often, a new band manages to pick up the baton and run with it for a bit.

Miracle Fortress may have an album already available but their debut single is finally with us in the shape of ‘Have You Seen In Your Dreams’ and there are slight glimpses on this release which indicates they could have a few wall of sound techniques up their sleeve. The song immediately kicks into gear with its guitars churning away in the background but it’s the mix of lead and backing vocals that grab the listeners’ ear and at the half way point, they combine to make the song soar.

The instrumentation is chirpy and upbeat and the song is over before its practically started and is played over again before you even know it.

Its not a miracle but it’s a pleasant and charming introduction from another promising singing from Rough Trade.
