State your business, then walk away.

It speaks volumes when, in a band's press release for a single, EP or album, the city that they are from is mentioned as a selling point. So here we are with Leeds' based Superface, name dropping Kaiser Chiefs and Corrine Baily Rae to try and sell their sound. Which, considering that they sound absolutely nothing like either, is an interesting curio.

The “State Your Business EP” actually sounds much like The Beloved, without the charm or decent songs and replacing melody with funky riffs. Which would have been fine in 1990, but not now. The production is overcooked and muddy, the instrumentation does not seem to fit together and the singing seems to float around over the top, as if unsure how else its going to fit in. The passable “I Can See You” leads into the awful “Monkey's Gonna Getcha” and this lull is continued through the rest of the EP. If you love your breakbeat indie then this could appeal but, frankly, there's far better out there.
