Reaction after second chorus:

Ever wondered what Kaiser Chiefs would sound like if they dropped their humour and were seven years younger? Well, Young Knives are here to make it perfectly plain. With their sustaining end vocal note at the end of lines and their shouty, tuneless repetitive refrain in the chorus (“Up all night! Up all night! Up all night! etc.) one doesn't have to stretch the imagination too far.

Sadly, this approach of doing things has worn thin for the Kaiser Chiefs who are surely about to end themselves languishing in the pits of low chart entries and every new album being a “comeback”, so “Up All Night” is more or less doomed from the start. The song performs its function well enough, but doesn't excite or energise nearly as much as it annoys. Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is never a good thing. The chorus does stick in your head, but in the same way as a moth does when trapped in a tent.
