The joys of being reckless.
Take a man, add in a ridiculously named backing band, take away any pretentiousness aesthetic, add a big wodge of fun and a melody that will stick in your mind and you're pretty much going to be onto a winner. Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong may have one of the more ridiculous monikers in music, but with their relentless charm and sense of fun, they have produced one of this year's finest (and certainly catchiest) singles.
Silly punning title aside, “Lonely Buoy” is a rather splendid little single that should raise at least a smile in even the most cynical of people. With its fast paced, busy production with instruments and vocals clattering off each other like a cutlery tray falling down stairs with happy and joyful abandon, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong have thrown any caution and reservation to the wind and created something rather special.
