Angry young men with something to say.

‘Masquerade’ immediately kicks into life with a full-throttle guitar noodle and it’s a welcome blast for those who like their music to grab them by the throat. Blue Sky project certainly seem to be in a hurry with their new single and don’t stand on ceremony for anyone.

Its not offering anything new but there is an assured confidence on show here and even though the vocals appear low in the mix, there remains a clarity about them and with the guitar and drums powering the song on, its no bad thing that the vocals are content to let the song breathe and give all the elements a chance to shine.

B-side ‘Snailshell’ offers up more of the same but the guitar line manages to sound even more pensive and nervous with its continual sniping giving the impression that the band were on the edge when they were recording this.

Theres the sound of a lot of anger on these two tracks but its controlled and channelled aggression so it is no bad thing at all. As you would expect from the title, ‘Snailshell’ has a few slower sections than the lead track but both songs are of a good quality and will be up the street of anyone who likes their guitars loud but with a hint of intelligence and thought gone into the whole process.
