Model Horror- We are here
Does anybody remember Test Icicles? The original produce from crazy haired, hat wearing, bird holding Lightspeed Champion? Well, I got rather excited when I put Model Horror into my CD player and pressed the play button. The crashing instruments, the stop start approach, the desperate appealing vocals. Everything screamed Test Icicles and therefore I loved them.
Latest Model Horror release ‘We are here’ is set for release on the 17th March on ‘This is fake DIY’ records and has already been heavily praised by Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq. Thumbs up from these kind of people can’t be a bad start and a nice boost for this mid March release.
The track opens brightly, and breaks into an electro indie sound- ever popular right here and now. The short but sweet introduction emphasises the ever changing speed and tempo the band perfect, a unique quality which sets the lads apart from other emerging acts.
The band are a fivesome from Hertfordshire, spreading their infectious melodies and synthesising beats around the UK at the minute. No album plans upset me and many others I presume, but with cracking releases such as ‘We are here’, the band have got a bright future ahead of them. It’s a brave statement, but on this single alone- I think they outdo Test Icicles. That is not to be repeated.
