The Teenagers- Love No

Now I think it must be me. Maybe the music industry is just moving too fast? Maybe I use Room Thirteen to try and recover a sense of genre and in fact, get sent stuff like this that in fact confuses me even further. Maybe I enjoy the torture?

The Teenagers ‘Love No’ is the new release from the threesome that could arguably stand for corniest track of the century. And yes, I’m competing with the La Ketchup and mi-ya-hee song. Rave reviews throughout the country would disagree with me it would appear- hence my sudden self consciousness of my worthiness as a CD reviewer. I just can’t grasp the whole accented spoken lyricist, nor the devaluation of women full stop. There’s a huge stereotype hitting home with this one; one that in my opinion fails to grasp at any reality straws, and ends up sounding more like a bitter ex.

Previous stuff such as Startlett Johannson is better, which is almost a clear sign that the lyrics create my opinion on this one. I’m a clear feminist apparently.

It starts well, opening with crashing instruments and a typical in fashion indie electro vibe. They get that right. Even more, the chorus is catchy and stuck in your head hours after, yet coming to think of it, so is the MR Blobby tune that refuses to pass. It’s pop that almost misses a Beth Ditto, a Hayley Williams. A female personality that they are in fact mocking. I can’t stand the verses- they alone make me dislike the catchiness of the wonderfully crafted melody and the forward thinking chorus.

Anybody wanna tell me where I’m going wrong??
