Wonderful acoustic
Paul is a rising star in the Irish Music Scene. Commonly associated with the likes of Damien Rice or Tom Baxter’s sound, and with influences such as David Gray and Wilco, you can understand what angle of music this guy is approaching from; the fairly acoustic side of things, I’m sure you’ll gather.
His music is thought provoking and deep in meaning, his lyrics tell a story and are almost poetic in style. His vocals are distinctive; a subtle, faint but warm tone. His music is simplistic but soothing...his melodies are sweet and beautiful.
If ever there was a technically brilliant musician in the new music scene it would have to be him. He’s trying very hard to create a unique element to his music but, you’ll find that is fairly typical acoustic. It’s very hard for any artist, especially in the acoustic genre, to make his or herself entirely unique but Paul definitely tries.
“One Step Forward” is a marvellous opening track to this EP, it has a sense of warmth about it. With clear-cut melodies and prevailing harmonies. It’s shortly succeeded by “All I Ever Wanted”; an irresistible acoustic track from Hourican. “Let it go” is equally delightful with its wonderfully definable guitar riff.
