Crowning Glory • Path To Glory

Although still currently unsigned Crowning Glory have come a long way since their formation in 2005. They’ve played live sessions on Radio 2 and Totalrock, headlined a tour of the UK and Ireland and supported Orange Goblin, Panic Cell, Primordial and Skindred amongst others. They’ll even be appearing at this year’s Darby Metal Fest, Bloodstock.

Their style encompasses all the metal clichés, punishing riffs, soaring guitar solos and high pitched melodic vocals. The result is as you would expect, straight up, no frills heavy metal leaning towards the 80’s sound, perhaps with a hint of Iron Maiden and a dash of Judas Priest too.

Their self financed debut EP ‘Path To Glory’ makes good use of this balls out style, this is a band who is not afraid to be what it is, they’re metal, enough said!
It might sound a bit rough and ready in places, but you’ve got to remember that this is a band that haven’t been packaged, shaped or led in any way.

Certain tracks on the EP are clear stand-outs, while others don’t quite make the cut. ‘Sea Of Dead Dreams’ is catchy as hell with a very noticeable nod toward Maiden.
Whilst new single ‘Dead Man’s Paradise’ is pure fist punching, dirty beer soaked head banging metal, with a great guitar solo too.

Crowning Glory is for those that like their metal pure, classic and unadulterated with no added sugar, no frills and certainly no pretence. It might not be the most original or most contemporary of styles now, but if these guy’s had been around in the 80’s they’d probably be where Maiden are right now. Still, it’s doing no harm and there are a great deal of people out there who haven’t got rid of those faded denims. You know who you are!
