A Fun Post-Pop Creation
Nick Krgovich, Julia Chirka and Justin Kellam have invented post-pop! Post-Eureka! Come Into My House feels like a pop/hip-hop album made my a bunch of hilariously fun kids with an ear for the bittersweet. Some of the songs come across with the sick-sweet perfection of mainstream hip-hop/RnB, except the vocals are these wonderfully flawed high-pitched narratives that feel like they come from some sort of crazy musical theatre.
No Kids is basically a side-project from P.ano, and it's great. Think of the music from some '50s Hollywood musical except it's brand new and the people singing it don't have ridiculously beautiful voices. They can sing, but they sound more like regular people singing along to a musical than actual singers, which is fucking great. It's as if a bunch of friends wrote a musical, and then performed it themselves instead of hiring professional singers.
This is so fun it's ridiculous. I want to see them play with some home-made film they've created playing the background, or, better yet, they get dressed up like they're in a musical and play. YES! Haha, give this record a listen. They do a song about being in the glee club and it has a flute AND handclaps. What more can you want?
