Count and Sinden - Bleeper

As record labels go, Domino have one of the most impressive roll-calls there is; with Adem, Arctic Monkeys, Clinic, Franz Ferdinand, Four Tet, Lightspeed Champion and The Kills in their first XI, the Domino team-sheet is something akin to an NME journalists wet dream! Which begs the question what on earth are Domino doing releasing this pile of shite?

‘Beeper’ is annoying, uninspired, repetitious, formulaic trash which should be darkening the door of one of Britain’s most successful independent record labels whose reputation has been built upon consistently unearthing new talent. If Domino really wants to make “forays into club music” as the promotional blurb claims then there are an almost infinite number of artists more capable then The Count & Sinden. ‘Beeper’ is built around a naggingly repetitive refrain of “Hit me on my beeper”, apparently exudes “a universal joy and fresh innocence that’s damn near impossible not to like”. I hate to shatter such illusions that the Count and his co-pilot may have, but it is pretty easy not to like manufactured drivel. I managed to abhor the track thoroughly and imagine that I will not to be alone in doing so.
