Less Than Jake • Goodbye Blue & White
“Goodbye Blue & White” is a 24 track album filled with songs released previously on now out of print or limited edition vinyl. This album pays the bands respects to their old tour van “Blue and white”, after it sadly passed away in 1997 on their way to a gig, hence the name “Goodbye Blue & White”. Throughout Less Than Jakes long time together they have released eight studio albums with material for a ninth currently in the pipeline. “Goodbye Blue & White” is one part of the re-release of three classic albums and a DVD. All three CD’s come complete with their own Bonus DVD containing live performances and interviews with the band. These re-releases all come as Less Than Jake start their own label 'Sleep It Off Records' .
“Goodbye Blue & White” contains Covers and original Less Than Jake material which means something for everyone to listen to and have a giggle about. Less Than Jake are a fun band and this is something which you remember when listening to this album. It would of course be nice to hear something new from LTJ as they seem to be good at re-releasing old material, but we will have to wait for their next release for that.
The CD itself is basically good fun for Less Than Jake fans. The tracks on it are not mastered or recorded brilliantly as they are original. The reason this album is fun is because it contains bits of everything. It is almost certain to contain something that even die hard Less Than Jake fans haven’t heard before. With all this in mind I would recommend this to people who are already fans of Less Than Jake, as new listeners may not get to grips with what the band are about from this release.
It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what is good and bad about this album, but in my opinion it is certainly worth buying if you are a fan of LTJ. I have been a fan for a long while and listening to this album made me realise why I fell in love with the band in the first place. They are exciting, infectious and more often than not just being stupid and enjoying themselves and when it comes down to it that’s what makes Less Than Jake so good. Check out the Re-releases of “Losers, Kings And Things We Don’t Understand”, “Pezcore”, Goodbye Blue & White” and also the DVD “Peoples History Of Less Than Jake” and enjoy.
