Frenetic, Furious Indie
Angular, sharp beats are the order of the day with The Haunts who create a melange of frenzied indie and gritty dance grooves, making for an interesting release. 'Underground' begins with a fierce, repetitive guitar riff funked up with jazzy synths and rapturous vocals and trippy harmonies that all climax in a frenetic writhing musical mass. The cocky svelte vocals and brash instruments even give a nod to The Jam.
B-side, 'Lowslung City Skyline' remixed by the band is a more dance-influenced tune that takes The Haunts' gritty feel and mixes in some hot beats and vocoder vocals that tweak the tune into a dancefloor gem.
