1000 Miles Single

With a multitude of sounds competing to be heard it is a wonder that Roebeck can make two tracks that interweave so magnificently. Without any token influences you get the sense that the music is drawn from the band’s own experiences and inspirations. Conspicuously from the press release these could range from UFO research and cante hondo flamenco.

A beguiling mix but then hearing 1000 Miles it almost makes sense. Amidst the perplexity lies the combination of Arabian strings coupled with delicious vocals which lends an outstanding calming influence. Deceptively lucid beats blend with delicately floating melodies creating a constantly engaging four and a half minutes.

Seemingly neither track has a set plan; a fresh approach of working without a chorus or verse leaves a blank canvas to fill. If anything, Roebeck’s imagination strains too far as Sirens overwhelms as an elaborate instrumental in one of the most subsuming singles you are likely to hear this year.
