Accolade
Accolade are a 5 piece unsigned melodic indie/rock outfit from the Bradford area, who have recently recorded this three track EP which is available to listen to through MySpace.
Accolade pride themselves on their songwriting and this EP just goes to show how good these guys really are. The first thing to notice is the quality of the production which helps the soaring vocals and instrumental prowess to really jump out at you.
Opening track ‘Keep Your Distance’ is an up-beat, chugging pile driver of a song which is truly capped off by the anthemic chorus. Heartfelt breakdowns throughout this release bring a different dynamic to the band’s music and make the powerful moments even more formidable.
‘Confidence Trick’ and ‘Still Fall Down’ are contrasting tracks which are generally slower and softer throughout. Many unsigned artists are afraid to incorporate slower tracks in early releases as people may find them tedious, however this is far from the case here as ‘Confidence Trick’ is emotionally charged, controlling and ultimately filled with quality. Nick Evans provides vocals which range greatly from their soft and delicate moments to the towering blasts which provide such energy.
Accolade are sure to make great strides in coming years and I believe they are definitely worth keeping an eye on. Visit their MySpace and check them out yourselves at www.myspace.com/accolade
