An Incredible Debut
London’s Cazals are not, at this moment in time, one of the most recognized or well-established bands in the scene. They have a rather modest following, even though it’s steadily on the increase. They’re not being hyped or given nearly enough radio airtime. However one can, with due right, assume that they’ll take a rather credible pose in the industry in the not too distant future, and well with an album like “What Of Our Future” it’s hard to assume otherwise.
This is possibly one of the most contagious debut albums ever written. So many good songs and just genuinely brilliant musicality, “What Of Our Future” should, by right, make Cazals a household name. Songs like “To Cut A long Story Short”, “Somebody Somewhere” and “A Big Mistake” are so wonderfully infectious. Tantalisingly remarkable, heartening, crisp and precise well-rounded melodies and inconceivably breathtaking displays of musicianship…and this level of overwhelming intensity is maintained throughout the remnants of the album.
Indie is changing rapidly and it’s moving in a direction that we’ve never experienced before. Many of us are sick to death with the plain and simple old Indie that we hear nowadays; the boring, dull, melancholy, acoustic drivel. It’s bands like Cazals that are paving the way for an exciting and more enticing future for Indie music. Their music is passionate and wonderfully credible, it’s intense and pumped with energy.
This band toggles a pinch of class with a whole lot of precision. There music is delivered with such a vivacity that has never been seen or heard before. If you’re looking for something new and exciting to quench your musical desires then this is the band for you.
Under French label Kitsune they’ve lined up some classy support slots with the likes of Bloc Party, Razorlight, Daft Punk, Digitalism, The Rakes and Babyshambles. Rather fantastic for a band of their size…they certainly must be doing something right. They will be appearing at a number of festivals in the U.K. this summer, and they are definitely worth catching because they’re quite an amazing live act.
