High School Indie.

Brighton boys The Splendour are the latest indie by numbers band to smash onto the UK scene. And their latest tune ‘Audio’ is as taught and catchy a breakthrough number as you could ask for . . . barring the fact there is something a little school disco circa 1999 about it all. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. The Splendour’s sound might be a little immature but it’s energetic, frenetic and shamelessly enjoyable without at any point threatening to be anything other than a three minute throw away burst of adrenalin fuelled rock nonsense.

Being good in the same way as an above average secondary school band might excite those with fond memories of chalk boards and jumpers for goalposts but there will come a point when this band will have to grow up a little. Otherwise every Jim, Brian and Donald will be asking them “how old are you now?” and that ladies and gentlemen just wouldn’t be raunchy at all.
