Good single. Irony pending.
Sometimes bands don't know the irony of the titles of their records. Beggars latest offering, “The Future”, while being a decent slice of pop fun, is far from forward-thinking or defining, despite its title. In fact, in terms of originality, “The Future” is lagging sorely behind, with music that has been around for ages and a voice that sounds like it was created in a factory that makes indie singers. Honestly, you could think that you were listening to Boy Kill Boy to name just one.
But that doesn't make it a bad song. In fact, its rather good with its dramatic use of Hammond organ, heavy bass, guitars and drums. Yes, there has been stuff that sounds like this but that is more of an indictment of the industry and producers that don't push existing (or sign new) artists with something new to bring to the fore. As for here and now, “The Future” ain't bright, but its certainly decent.
