Late Of The Pier
Late Of The Pier are one of the finest new discoveries of the past year. They’ve exploded unto the music scene in a vivacious fired frenzy of electronica, captivating flickering neon lights and bag-fills of vigour and verve. Their brand of 80’s electro-romanticism is exhilarating, entirely effervescent and so naturally overwhelming.
If by chance their first two releases, “Bathroom Gurgle” and “The Bears Are Coming”, haven’t got them the acclaim they deserve, then, undoubtedly, “Space And Woods” should. It’s a real mainstream track. It has a real popular twist to it that one can’t quite pin down. The melody contests an oomph-y electro harmony and thumping bass-line. The lyrics are paranormal, weird, wonderful, and mysterious. This is electro-happy pop-rock with the added twist that it’s actually quite good. It’s infectious, entirely irresistible. People often consider, with just cause, whither or not Late Of The Pier are ahead of their time, and let’s face it they were and are ahead of their time. They are innovators of the highest accord and their time has now come to shine. 2008 could very well be the year of the Pier.
