Sparkling Poppy Jazz

Julian Velard is a talented songwriting with a classic jazzy style that's easy on the ears and shows off his easy charms. This single has a warm hint of show glitz, with twinkling pianos, a smooth and fast-paced melody and jangling percussion. Velard's soothing, full-bodied vocals really make the piece, carrying you along in his dreams of running away to a place where Jimmy Dean and Steve McQueen will save him. The rich, jazz style is instantly evocative of other performers who have managed to blend jazz and pop, such as Jamie McCullum, however Velard's music has a far more mature and rounded sound; that of a confident performer who will surely gain plenty of attention. Velard isn't likely to appeal to the young generation looking for the hippest new indie band, but with a song referring to two retro cult icons, it's obvious that this isn't his immediate aim and the impossibly upbeat, sparky melody is impossible to fault.
