America Via Wigan

First impressions can be deceiving. The instant Inside View’s EP, ‘Picture Perfect’ kicks in your immediate thought is that the band is an American act trying to break the UK. Oozing with an American pop melodic infectiousness, Inside View sound like they should clogging up the American radio airwaves. But look a bit deeper and you’ll discover that this is actually a UK act, from Wigan no less who may sound every inch the American rock act but are very much British.

Jangling its way into your affections, ‘Picture Perfect’ bristles with warmth and honesty as Inside View’s touch of Morrisey-esque melancholy mingles with a One Republic contagiousness that makes the track accessible to all. Tenderly weaving amongst the heartstrings, ‘Picture Perfect’ instantly captures the romantic in us all, immediately taking you into its confidence before whisking you away on a strangely optimistic flight of soaring vocals and a rush of infectious guitar riffs. ‘New York’ continues along the same path, revealing an almost whimsical side to the band before ‘Betrayed’ mixes things up as the aggression level gets upped every so slightly. ‘Can’t See Why’ meanwhile bristles with an irresistible hook that sweeps by on a melodic charge that will not fail to grasp you by the wrist and pull you along. And that is the key with this band. Sure, they may sound like another American band vying for your attention but Inside View will soon wrap you up in their world and whilst their sound may not be world defining, there is an alluring attractiveness residing in their openly honest and marvellously melodic tracks that is hard to resist.
