The Steeples

The Steeples are a four piece indie pop rock outfit from Liverpool and are set to release “Tea For Two”, the debut album on the 7th of July. The last six months has been spent touring all over the UK promoting the release of their most recent single "Loosy Lucy” and this album. With the backing of their manager Tony Newbury, who has been involved with the careers of The Charlatans, and The Farm, this band are certainly set for a swift rise to success.

“Tea For Two” is completely indie in every sense of the word. Throughout the album the band provide bouncy indie rhythms and pop catchiness with sing-along lyrics and tunes for the masses. Opening track 'Britney’s Tears' is a feel good track with its bubbly feel and typically indie clean riffs, giving you a good indication of what is to come throughout the duration of this CD. This bands sound completely encompasses the sound of indie music today, with their own twist of liverpudlian cheek.

The short but sweet 'Bus Stop' is another track which proves just how good this band are within this genre. Andy Culshaw’s vocals are without a doubt impressive and provide a sense of coherence within this band. They show throughout this album that they are a machine for writing catchy and energetic indie tunes, which within the music scene today is a winning recipe.

From start to finish the album doesn’t really slow down with their latest single 'Loosy Lucy' adding to the lively concoction “Tea For Two” creates. Its sing along chorus is a highlight of this song and creates an image of a packed venue, filled with indie kids in tight trousers, bouncing to the effervescent and intoxicating tunes.

A moment to breath does come with 'Do But I Don’t' which is the closest thing to a slow song. Despite its lack of pace it is refreshing and once again allows Andy’s vocals and the song writing quality of this band to shine through. It remains memorable and catchy even though it is slower and dynamically different.

The Steeples have created a feel good album which cannot fail to make you smile. If you are a massive fan of indie music then these have to be your next favourite band. Check out “Tea For Two”, available July 7th.
