Rewire • Rewired EP
Rewire are a four piece Electro Rock band from Manchester who aim to fuse Rock, Pop, Electro and trance into one melodic yet powerful package. Since starting to write music in 2005 childhood friends Chris and Jonny (Guitar/Vocals & Piano/keys/ Sequencing/Additional Vocals respectively) have been involved with many incarnations of Rewire and settled with the line-up they have today in 2007.
The “Rewired EP” is a five track, self produced EP which unfortunately lacks professionalism and means that despite the quality of song writing it is difficult to get excited about. As far as debut EP’s go it is not great and as the band are trying to fuse together such a variety of genres it sometimes feels a little confusing and lacking direction. With so many good bands which fuse Electro sounds with rock and pop, Rewire have a long way to go to become worthy of higher acclaim.
Despite this I found “Big Brother” and the “Interlude” to be my favourite parts of the EP as they link together well and show potential for good things from a band who would benefit hugely from the expertise and experience of using a professional recording studio.
Unfortunately the “Rewired EP” is not up to standard lacking varying dynamics and depth yet despite this I promise is shown through vocals and song writing which I hope will develop with time and experience. Support Rewire in the Manchester area throughout this summer.
