Millennia- Hour of despair

All the ways From Louviisa, Finland, Millennia aren’t gonna hit you with originality, this is nothing new. However, this is some foot tappingly good music, for all its faults. Metalcore can be a dirty word, but personally, I have never had a problem with it. If it’s been done properly, Darkest Hour and As I lay dying are good examples, then I think that it earns a place along the so-called legitimate metal.

This is a well thought out, highly executed release straight to the point with albeit a few glaring flaws (mainly originality). A couple of tracks feel like they were slowed down, almost like the drums was supposed to be double time, and there are a few bit’s out, but I think that adds personality. There are some almighty riffs in here, the kind that makes you want to practice your pit moves in your bedroom! Full of heavy then thou breakdowns, and call to arms vocal lines. Track 7 Maverick is the obligatory acoustic track that only last a couple of minutes, why bother? This is pretty much metalcore by numbers, yet I find something compelling about it? I can’t for the life of me work out what? If you know the answer to my puzzling encounter, then answers on a postcard…
