Super Cute Indie Pop
Gregory & The Hawke are a quirky New York indie pop band, fronted by singer Meredith Godreau whose vocals have a distinctive sweet and cute edge that’s great for such upbeat pop melodies.
‘Ghost’ is a contemplative love song bolstered by a merry pace and mixture of brass, chaotic percussion and stirring beats. It climaxes in a fractious whirlwind of instrumental discordance, which mirrors the anguished feelings of the sighing vocals. If you’re looking for a pretty, but impassioned indie ditty, then ‘Ghost’ might be the record you’re looking for.
‘Dare & Daring’ is a coy tune that’s full of cute, blushing teenage romance type feelings. “If you like it, I will like it too”, sighs Meredith above the flowing backing of strings and brass. It’s all very sweet and cutesy, which means that there are probably a lot of people who will be repulsed by it, but equally there are plenty who will fall in love with the chirpy tone and pretty tunes.
