Black Daniel
What can I say about Black Daniel, a three-piece electro pop/rock outfit from the big smoke, London. Well firstly, “Its cold” is a four track Single/EP? comprising of two original track and two remixes of "Say hello". Members L.E. May and L.D. May were previously DJ’s/Producers and were founding members of electro acid house act “Medicine8”, whom remix “Say Hello”, in the cheesiest of electro house ways. Opener “Say Hello” has a “Babybird” feel mainly because of the use of the electronics. The guitar rings full of the most naïve indie rock possible, as the vocals spew forth the most contrived lyrics to date. When the Chorus kicks in you get some turgid tones, that make me want to cringe and hit the stop button on my CD player and remove the evil from within. Second track “It Get Cold” kick off like Queen’s "You’re my best friend", quite literally almost identical actually. However, as the track progresses it comes more into its own, a very hip electro indie rock track, it may be the best track on the CD but that does not mean I actually like it! Now it is time for the first remix, I must say, I never liked remixes and this is no exception. I would expect this track to be played at a nightclub full of men with moustaches, wearing tight leather or PVC trousers. Closing this CD of with another remix, this time with a more euphoric sound, I can imagine lot’s of people in club dancing all night long, sweating profusely and chewing their faces. To sum up, this did not do anything for me. Maybe it will for you?
