Krisiun

You don’t hear of many metal bands coming out of Brazil, maybe the biggest of all time was Sepultura. Therefore, you would not be surprised to hear a cover of 'Refuse/Resist' from Brazil’s latest export, Krisiun. You would be surprised to find out that Krisiun have together now for 16 years!

'Southern Storm' is a rollercoaster ride of face pummelling proportions! Visceral guitars destroy while blast beat drum hit like an artillery battery. Alex Camargo low grunts are not that dissimilar from fellow countryman Max Cavalera. 'Southern Storm' is a mix of outright brutality like a late night brawl outside your local boozer and machine like technical precision. The best description of 'Southern Storm' is perhaps "Destructive”.

13 Tracks clocking in at 50 minutes and 15 seconds you get not so much as a bang for your buck rather, an H-bomb for a quid! This is the most intense 50 minutes of your life, filled with blast beat, relentless riffing and one hell of an angry Brazilian shouting at you. The cover of 'Refuse/Resist' is not a bad one, but Krisiun do not do a great deal to make it their own. Krisiun are definitely at the head of the death metal pack at the moment with their 7th full length. You may find that the structures to songs are basically the same throughout 'Southern Storm, but as they say “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. I can not believe it has taken me this long to find out about Krisiun. It is time I got out from beneath my rock and search for their back catalogue. If you are a fan of Death Metal, I suggest you go out and get 'Southern Storm', post haste. If you do indulge, then be prepared for……DESTRUCTION!!!!!
