Babyshambles drummer strikes out on his own
In the ongoing saga that is Babyshambles, this move is one that few people saw coming. R.K.C are the new project of ‘Shambles drummer Adam Ficek, and should put to rest the notion that Pete Doherty is the most talented songwriter out there. Ficek and his band do a neat line in jaunty English pop, with an infectious bassline and retro feel. Ok, so it’s not the most original material going, but if you’re going to write a 3-minute pop single, you could do a lot worse than a jangly Byrds-esque melodic treat. ‘Horses’ is the third single off their album, and this version was specially reworked for the Christmas market, with added sleigh bells. Quite what the song has to do with Christmas I’ll never know, but a brave attempt anyway. At least it won’t get dull once the ice starts to melt and life continues.
