In a word? No. In Two? Definitely Not.
Where exactly is this band from? Apparently Brighton, England, yet they're woh-oh-ing like some Californian pop-punks. The riffs, the drums, the vocals, and the production are so deliberately American it’s actually a little bit tragic.
Hey! Watch This! is that lamentable type of “sunshine and yelps” punk rock that is as immediately forgettable as it is tedious. Singer Alex Rumble has clearly honed his mimicking well, presumably lip-synching into the mirror to his favourite All American Rejects albums, and there can be no faulting how perfectly the group have recreated that particular sound.
What they can be faulted on, however, is the abject lack of any genuine craft.
Numerous listens offer no insight into what this song is even about, (largely due to Rumble opting to yelp, not sing) and despite the predictable efforts at creating something approaching an anthem the whole thing feels limp and pointless.
Sure the production is bright, and band are tight, but, aside from being the recipient of full frontal lobotomy performed by a blind drunk wielding a rusty ice-pick, it’s difficult to image something more offensive to your senses.
