Six by Seven formed in Nottingham in 1996. They first sparked interest when they released European Me/Brilliantly Cute in 1997 as NME picked up on it and it sold out within three days. This gets them a record contract with Beggars/Mantra Recordings and their debut album is recorded at Moles Studio in Bath. Releasing the album in '98 they go on to play Glastonbury and Reading and they play live on John Peel's show from Newcastle Sound City. A mini-tour of America follows. Their second album is released in 2000, unfortunately they part company with guitarist Sam Hempton, but go on to tour Europe and America with Placebo. A third album ensues, Tina Blower replaces Sam but it doesn't last, she leaves after a couple of months and the band decide to stay a three piece. Released from Beggars they form their own label Saturday Night, Sunday Morning and release an internet only album. read less
