Biography

Formed in Northern England in the Autumn of 2001, THE PROPHECY have been thrust to the forefront of the Doom metal scene with their brand of Epic and Melodic Doom/Death Metal. Compared with the likes of My Dying Bride, Opeth, Anathema and Paradise Lost, THE PROPHECY bring a mixture of aggression and dark emotions into play, combining claustrophobic soundscapes and melancholy guitars to play out the true sound of Armageddon.

These fast rising Doom Metallers are currently recording the follow-up to their magnificent -Ashes- debut which was released last year by Blackdoom records, a new record label formed by members of My Dying Bride. The new release provisionally entitled -Revelations- should be out by September 2004.

THE PROPHECY have already proved themselves more than capable in the live arena - one of the pioneering Doomination bands, last year saw THE PROPHECY tour Europe with Morgion (USA) and Mourning Beloveth (Ire) on a tour which showcased some of the premier European Doom metal bands. This was then followed up in August with an 18 date tour of America which took in both the East and West coasts of the USA ending with an appearance at the world renowned SHoD fest in Portland.

Leaving the USA sufficiently Doomed, in November THE PROPHECY then embarked upon a three date tour with My Dying Bride, the highlight of which was playing to a 2000 capacity crowd at the London Astoria which won the band many friends.

Now in 2004, THE PROPHECY are preparing for their appearance at the UK Bloodstock festival and have a Doomination Tour of Europe in the works to support the release of their second album. This years Doomination tour is even more stretching than before taking in over 10 countries and with a hectic three week schedule.

2004 will be a year of doom - 2004 will be the year of PROPHECY!
