Into The Valley Of Death
With a recent influx of Danish getting recognition from the music media most notably Mnemic and Ill Disposed. Upon first listening to 1 - 800 Vindication comes across as a death metal. And this is just by looking at the album cover. With Entombed - style bass lines and crunchy as hell drumming. Looking into the album further you realise this isn't about ripping the guts of a virgin across the pavement. Lyrically Ill Disposed have more in common with a hardcore band like Hatebreed.
Within seconds of the first track I Believe In Me you are greeted with the powerful vocals of Bo Summer and a bombastic rhythm section. Songs like Dark and Now We're History have subtle hints of melody with well -manipulated synthesisers against the crushing guitars of Lasse Bak and J Batten. This sounds like an upgraded Fear Factory being surgically grafted to Napalm Death, whilst Glenn Benton looks on with a sick grin spread across his face especially in song In Search Of Souls
Bo Summer's vocals have more a certainly worthy of any band from the swamps of Florida but a good point is that Ill Disposed are tad more accessible to the average listener of the metal music. They are still heavy without being too intimidating. Every song is just more then focused aggression. It's so sharp it makes the perfect soundtrack to a killing spree. No surprise the band featured in the soundtrack of smash - hit slasher movie Saw.
This is a record that takes the term melodic death metal to new heights.
